Hymn Writing Workshop
Service Description
This hands-on workshop guides participants through the process of writing original hymn texts rooted in Scripture, prayer, testimony, and worship. Designed especially for non-musicians and beginning writers, the seminar teaches the foundations of hymn writing, including theme, stanza structure, meter, rhyme, refrain, biblical clarity, and congregational language. Participants will not only learn about hymns; they will write them. Through guided exercises, group reflection, and thoughtful revision, each person will work toward completing an original hymn text. The workshop also includes a final class hymnal project, giving participants the opportunity to contribute their work to a shared collection of original hymns. No prior musical experience is required. Bring your faith, your words, and a willingness to write.

Cancellation Policy
The Hymn Writing Workshop is designed to be a respectful, encouraging, and creatively focused learning environment. Participants are expected to attend regularly, arrive on time, participate thoughtfully, and engage with others in a spirit of kindness, patience, and respect. Because this workshop includes personal writing, Scripture reflection, testimony, and creative sharing, all participants are asked to honor the privacy and originality of each person’s work. Hymn texts, personal stories, and creative ideas shared in class should not be copied, distributed, recorded, or used outside the workshop without the writer’s permission. Participants will be guided through weekly writing exercises and revision assignments. Regular attendance and completion of assignments are strongly encouraged in order to receive the full benefit of the workshop and to prepare a hymn text for the final class hymnal project. The workshop leader may provide feedback on clarity, structure, meter, singability, theological meaning, and musical direction. Feedback is intended to strengthen each participant’s work while preserving the writer’s voice and message. Registration secures a participant’s place in the workshop. Because space is limited and the class is designed around active participation, missed sessions may not be individually rescheduled. Any refund or cancellation requests must follow the stated registration and refund policy. All original hymn texts remain the intellectual and creative property of the individual writers. If a participant chooses to include their hymn in the class hymnal project, they grant permission for their text to be included in that workshop collection with proper credit.
